About Us

Health Organisation Welfare (HOW) is a registered, non-profit public health organisation established in Cameroon in July 2019. The organization was conceived in November 2018 in Dschang by a multidisciplinary coalition of public health professionals responding to recurrent disease outbreaks and the escalating humanitarian crisis affecting internally displaced persons and refugees in Cameroon and across parts of West and Central Africa.

Founded by epidemiologists, physicians, medical laboratory scientists, nurses, and development practitioners, HOW was created to advance health equity and strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities.

Commitment to Impact

HOW is dedicated to measurable and sustainable impact. By integrating emergency response with long-term systems strengthening, the organisation aims to reduce preventable morbidity and mortality, enhance community resilience, and contribute meaningfully to regional and global health security.

To build a world where every individual counts and where equitable health security and well-being are accessible to all.

To address critical health challenges affecting vulnerable populations across Africa through innovative, evidence-based, and sustainable interventions, while translating public health knowledge into timely and effective action within an increasingly interconnected global context.

Our Strategic Priorities

Our work is guided by a systems-oriented approach that addresses both structural and community-level determinants of health. We prioritises disease prevention and control, immunization and vaccine access, maternal, neonatal, infant and child health, sexual and reproductive health services, climate-related health adaptation, health security preparedness, and equitable access to essential health technologies. Cross-cutting priorities include data-driven decision-making, community engagement, capacity building, research and policy advocacy.

Target Population

Our primary focus centers on high-risk groups, including refugees, displaced persons, women, children, isolated rural communities, and those facing neglected health conditions. We guarantee that these marginalized populations are actively involved in shaping and executing the initiatives that directly impact their overall health and daily well-being.

Geographic Focus

Based firmly in Cameroon, our strategic programming model targets critical public health challenges across vulnerable communities throughout the wider African continent. All interventions are deployed alongside local authorities and grassroots stakeholders to secure deep contextual relevance, lasting sustainability, and measurable impact.

Partnership and Collaboration

Addressing complex health crises demands unified action, prompting HOW to forge strategic alliances with government bodies, multilateral agencies, NGOs, academia, and private sectors. These vital collaborations drive effective resource mobilization, foster knowledge exchange, and ensure synchronized responses against emerging public health threats.

Governance and Accountability

We function under a rigorous governance framework directed by a Board of Directors, supported by executive leadership and specialized units managing daily operations. Driven by total integrity and transparency, our robust financial oversight and monitoring systems ensure strict compliance with global regulatory standards.
